Services for Public Entities
In addition to providing FCE’s to public entity’s from the local to
state level at the request of insurers and physicians to help determine the
ability of an injured employee to return to work, Biokinetics provides a variety
of additional services to public entities. In addition to use in worker’s
compensation, functional capacity evaluations can be used by public entities to
determine whether an employee who has been out of work for non-work related
issues is physically capable of performing the essential demands of their
occupation.
Customized Job Descriptions
Most public entity’s in New Jersey use the Civil Service job descriptions to define the roles of their employees. While the Civil Service job descriptions are detailed in the types of roles and responsibilities and individual may have within a specific job title,
these descriptions do not outline the essential physical and postural demands an
individual must meet to successfully perform in these job titles. Additionally, while individuals in neighboring towns may be listed under the same job title, they may perform different jobs within that title with distinctly different physical demands due to both the equipment that a town may have as well as physical differences between the environmental layout and geography of each town.
Biokinetics can perform on-site ergonomics evaluations to create specific
customized job descriptions that apply to all of the titles within a department
based on the services provided by the department.
These customized job descriptions may be used for post-offer
pre-employment testing, fitness for duty, return to work testing, and placement
in appropriate modified duty positions for injured
workers.
Annual Fitness Testing for Fire Departments
Biokinetics is proud to partner with career fire departments to provide annual fitness testing to help ensure that fire fighters meet the essential cardiovascular and strength demands of their profession. Testing can be customized to meet the specific needs of each individual department.
Customized Testing for NJ Task Force 1 (NJ-TF1) Urban Search and Rescue
Biokinetics has provided customized testing to determine whether candidates meet the postural and physical demands outlined in the physician sign-off packet for individuals applying for training to join NJ-TF1. The testing involves a variety of
strength and agility related tasks. In addition, we provide full baseline measures of whole body strength, balance, and gait similar to our POPE and FCE protocols and a modified Gerkin Treadmill protocol based on the NFPA 1582 standard.
Customized Material Handling and Back Safety Training
Biokinetics has worked with the New Jersey Utilities Authority Joint Insurance Fund to provide customized lectures at annual safety training events for employees of
municipal utilities authority’s to help reduce the risk of back injuries to these public workers tasked with maintaining the integrity of the public water and sewage systems.
